Young's modulus(Young's modulus) is a physical quantity that describes the resistance of solid materials to deformation. A wire with length L and area S extends ΔL under force F. F/S is called stress, and its physical meaning is the force received by the unit area of the wire; ΔL/L is called strain, and its physical meaning is the amount of elongation corresponding to the unit length of the wire. The stress and strain ratio is called the elastic modulus: i.e. Delta L is a small change.
